Jupiter Grill Care Guide: How to Maintain Your Grill
6 min read
Your Jupiter grill, side burner, and refrigerator are engineered to live outside — built to stand up to salt, heat, and coastal air. A few simple habits, done at the right moments, keep them looking and performing like the day they arrived.
The One Thing Never to Skip
Before anything else: the insulated heat liner that ships with every Jupiter grill and side burner must stay installed at all times. It protects your cabinetry — and running the appliance without it voids the warranty. This is the single most important habit on this list.
The Rhythm of Good Care
After every use. Burn the grill on high for 10–15 minutes to turn residue to ash, then brush the grates. Wipe up spills once cool, and close the lid and cover once everything has cooled completely.
Weekly, in season. Wipe down all exterior stainless with warm, soapy water and a microfiber cloth. Empty the grease tray and clear away any water spots or early haze.
Monthly, year-round. Deep-clean the interior, burners, and grates. Inspect every stainless surface for light surface rust and treat any spots right away. Check that burner ports are clear.
Seasonally, quarterly. A full look-over: hardware, gas connections, ignition, door seals, and the grease tray and drain channels. Refresh the finish with a stainless polish and confirm covers still fit well.
By the coast. Rinse exterior stainless with fresh water and dry it weekly — and after any storm or heavy salt spray. Salt left to sit is the single biggest cause of surface rust. See our stainless steel care guide for the full cleaning method.

Every Appliance, Cared For
Your grill. After cooking, run on high to turn residue to ash, then brush the grates. Manage grease by emptying the tray regularly — buildup is a fire risk and traps moisture against the steel. Clear burner ports monthly. A light wipe of high-heat oil on cast burners and grates guards against moisture. Keep the liner installed, and use the lid and cover when idle — trapped moisture is a common rust source.
Your side burner. Sauces and boil-overs are acidic and will stain stainless if left to sit — a quick wipe after each use is all it needs. Keep gas ports clear (lift the cap monthly), and keep the insulated liner installed at all times, same as the grill.
Your refrigerator. The same with-the-grain cleaning keeps the door bright. Wipe the door often — it sees the most fingerprints and splash. Clean the seal with warm soapy water so it stays supple and seals tight, and keep the front vents clear so the compressor can breathe. Off-season, unplug it, wipe the interior and shelves, and dry it out fully before shutting it down. For more on seasonal care, see our off-season guide.
Protect Your Investment
A fitted cover is the simplest, most effective step you can take — the difference between wiping off a little dust and scrubbing away rust. Jupiter makes protective covers shaped to fit the grill and side burner: breathable, weather-resistant, and cut for a snug fit. Put the cover on once each appliance is fully cool and dry, and keep it on whenever it isn't in use — even under a covered patio, since a roof alone won't stop wind-blown salt, humidity, and pollen.
