Materials & Construction
The doors, drawer fronts, and the side and back panels are all made from solid high-density polyethylene (HDPE) — a durable polymer that won't warp, swell, rot, or fade, with color that runs all the way through. The cabinet box is built from our weather-resistant All-Weatherboard® construction. Together they're designed to live outdoors year-round with virtually no maintenance.
WeatherStrong cabinets are made from solid HDPE that won't rust, rot, warp, or fade and never needs sealing, painting, or refinishing. The color runs all the way through, so they look great for decades with almost no upkeep, and the material stays cooler to the touch in direct sun. Stainless steel, by comparison, dents easily and those dents stay visible, can get hot in the sun, and may show fingerprints or corrode in salt air. WeatherStrong gives you a clean, modern look without that upkeep or wear.
Yes. The HDPE has consistent color throughout, so minor scratches are far less noticeable than on painted or laminated cabinets, and there's no finish to chip or peel.
Yes. WeatherStrong cabinets are engineered to support heavy countertop materials including granite, marble, quartz, and tile.
Yes. All doors and drawers are soft-close and fully adjustable.
Hardware is high-grade stainless steel, chosen for its corrosion resistance outdoors. In oceanfront locations where salt air and spray are constant, rinse and wipe the stainless parts several times a month to clear salt before it can cause surface rust.
Yes. WeatherStrong uses a frameless European design, so doors and drawer fronts fully cover the cabinet box for a clean, modern look.
Durability & Performance
Yes. WeatherStrong is built to live outdoors: the HDPE doors, drawer fronts, and panels won't be harmed by water, and the All-Weatherboard® cabinet box is weather resistant. The cabinets aren't watertight sealed boxes, though — there are small gaps around the doors and drawers by design, which let air circulate so damp and humidity don't get trapped inside.
The color runs all the way through the HDPE, which is UV-stabilized to stand up to constant sun without fading — far better than painted or coated cabinets. With normal care, WeatherStrong cabinets are made to last for decades outdoors with minimal maintenance, and they're backed by our warranty.
Very well. WeatherStrong cabinets are heavy and solidly built, and they stand up to hurricanes and high wind.
Yes. In high-heat environments, keep cabinet surfaces below 265°F. Where temperatures drop below freezing, install under cover for best results and added protection.
Absolutely. Because they're built for the harshest outdoor conditions, they're an excellent choice indoors too, especially in damp or high-moisture spaces like basements, laundry rooms, garages, pool houses, and boat houses.
No. Painting voids the warranty, and it can restrict airflow through the material and increase heat absorption in direct sun. Because the color runs through the material, there's no need to paint.
WeatherStrong Pre-Set Islands
Your order arrives complete: the fully assembled cabinets, the countertop, and all the hardware needed to join everything together. Depending on your configuration, it also includes your grill, side burner, and/or refrigerator.
Yes. Your cabinets are packaged individually and ship fully assembled, with the necessary side and end panels already attached — no boxes to build and no panels to add. To set up your island, you simply screw the assembled cabinets together, level them, and attach the countertop. We provide room-of-choice delivery and keep you updated throughout.
The stainless-steel adjustable legs ship with your cabinets and screw onto pre-installed mounting plates during setup, letting you level the island on any surface.
Your countertop is the Glacier Frost WeatherTop. WeatherTop countertops are produced from an outdoor-rated resin composite material, originally developed for cladding the exterior of high-rise buildings. The material is heat, UV and scratch resistant, and features a solid black core with a natural marble surface design. The island WeatherTops feature a clean 1" mitered edge all the way around that is fully weatherproof and won't swell, peel, or delaminate outdoors. It comes with your island, and you secure it to the cabinets using an outdoor-rated construction adhesive. On larger islands the top comes in more than one section, so it may have one or more seams.
No. Your grill, side burner, and refrigerator ship in their own boxes and are installed during setup. The grill and side burner include their required insulated heat liners and must be installed inside them — running a heat-generating appliance without its liner will damage the cabinets and void the warranty. The grill is set up for propane, with a converter kit available for natural gas, and a 14" gas hose is included for standard setups (longer hoses are purchased separately). Use a licensed professional for any gas connection. The refrigerator runs on a standard 110V outlet.
Not in a Pre-Set Island — those are configured for our appliances. If you'd like to use your own grill, burner, or refrigerator, work with a designer on a custom design and we'll build around the appliances you choose. Any built-in, heat-generating appliance still needs its manufacturer's insulated liner.
Propane tanks must never be stored underneath the grill cabinet. Store your tank in the designated propane pullout cabinet we offer, which is built to hold it safely with proper ventilation.
We don't offer full island covers, but protective covers are available for the grill and side burner if you'd like them.

Shipping & Delivery
Pre-Set Islands are built to order and ship within 7 to 10 business days. Because each cabinet ships individually and fully assembled, a single damaged cabinet can be replaced on its own rather than the whole island. In-stock accessories and appliances may ship separately and arrive first.
We ship anywhere in the continental United States. We do not currently ship to Alaska, Hawaii, or outside the U.S. A flat shipping fee applies to your order.
Your order ships by freight through our Ideal Shipping program with room-of-choice delivery — the team brings your cabinets to the spot you choose, not just the curb — and we keep you updated throughout. Larger orders may arrive on multiple pallets, so allow room to receive and stage them.
Before signing the delivery receipt, inspect the shipment against your order confirmation. Note any visible damage on the receipt, take photos, and keep all packaging until the issue is resolved. Report concealed damage found after unpacking within 48 hours of delivery.
Compare everything you receive against your order confirmation. Hardware and smaller accessories are sometimes packed inside the cabinets to protect them in transit, so open and inspect all boxes and cabinet interiors before reporting anything as missing.
Contact our Customer Care team with your order number, a description of the issue, and photos. For approved damage claims, we cover freight and replace the item within 7 business days of photo-claim approval.
Installation
You can install WeatherStrong yourself. Because the cabinets arrive fully assembled, setup is mainly screwing the cabinets together, leveling, and attaching the countertop, and our step-by-step installation video and guide walk you through it. WeatherStrong doesn't provide or arrange installers, so for gas, electrical, or plumbing work, hire your own qualified contractor — and always use a licensed professional for gas and electrical hook-ups.
Setup uses common tools: a tape measure, pencil, level, screwdriver or drill, clamps, shims, scissors, painter's tape, caulk, and an outdoor-rated construction adhesive — plus an extra set of hands. Our step-by-step installation video walks you through each step.
Yes. Every Pre-Set Island and Design Center order includes the 1¼" stainless steel screws needed to join your cabinets together.
Always follow your appliance manufacturer's installation instructions, and check with your state and local governing bodies for any ventilation, clearance, grill, and permit requirements that apply in your area.
Care & Maintenance
Use water and a soft cloth or sponge for everyday cleaning, and mild dish soap for messes. For tougher spots, use Simple Green All-Purpose Household Cleaner with a soft-bristle brush. Wipe hardware with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then dry it with a lint-free cloth. In coastal areas, clean stainless components several times a month to prevent salt-related rust. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners.
Because the color runs through the HDPE, surface scratches are far less noticeable than on finished cabinets.
Yes. Replacement doors, drawer fronts, panels, and hardware are available through our Customer Care team or your dealer.
